Explore knife design, including the different parts and functionality of various blade shapes. You will forge functional knives of your own design, with 4 to 6 inch blades. Dive into the world of steels, their metallurgy, and heat-treatment techniques. From shaping the basic knife form through forging to belt grinding and proper heat-treatment, you will acquire the skills to create high-quality knives. Learn to craft handles using full tang or hidden tang construction, and gain insights into troubleshooting common problems. Leave the class with finished knives and the knowledge to continue your knifemaking endeavors. For an additional fee, you can also create a custom leather sheath for your knife.
